Bees are dying in record numbers...and new research confirms pesticides are to blame. You can help get pesticides off our shelves and save bees from the brink of extinction. Help us raise $50,000 $60,000 by MIDNIGHT. Give now and we'll send you a Cooler Tote Bag >> | Dear ________, The latest figures on bee deaths just landed on our desks: U.S. beekeepers lost 44% of their colonies in the last year. That's a near-record loss and WAY too high for colonies to keep up. What's worse, a new study in the peer-reviewed journal Science Report confirms our worst fears: Two of the most popular insecticides on the market destroy bumblebee colonies. What are pesticide manufacturers saying about this disastrous trend? "It's best not to make knee jerk reactions based on a single study." ________, bee colonies are disappearing around the world, threatening 35% of global food production. Study after study confirms that pesticides are to blame. This isn't a knee jerk reaction -- this is an all-out fight to save the bees -- and our food supply! Join the fight: Donate now to help us reach our goal of $50,000 $60,000 by MIDNIGHT -- so we can fight back against chemical companies, lobby legislators, and activate our grassroots network to save the bees and all threatened creatures. (As thanks for your donation, we'll send you our exclusive Sierra Club Cooler Tote Bag!) The new study in Science Report finds that imidacloprid (manufactured by Bayer) cuts the number of colony brood cells (which contain bee eggs) by nearly half. Thiamethoxam (manufactured by Syngenta) kills 38% of live bees. As the EPA considers restricting the use of neonic pesticides like these, this research is a critical validator of what we already know: Pesticides are killing our bees. But remember: Pesticides generate hundreds of millions of dollars every year for companies like Bayer and Syngenta. They insist their pesticides actually help farms (ha!), quoting internal industry testing results...the results of which they claim are proprietary and confidential. This new research is going to put them in overdrive, lobbying Congress and the EPA to let them continue to spew toxic chemicals all over the planet. It's not enough that the facts are on our side -- we need Sierra Club supporters like you, ________, to step up and help us save bumblebees and all our beautiful, wild creatures and places. Say you're with us: Donate now and we'll send you our exclusive Cooler Tote Bag! Bees are on the fast track to extinction -- and with them, the foods and flowers we know and love. Saving the bees is possible, but not without you. Thanks for your commitment to keeping our wildlife safe, our food secure, and our bees thriving.
